Original Equipment Parts (OE)

Original Equipment Parts – OE parts – are original parts that come from a company that designs and manufactures parts. The parts come in original packaging.

Original Equipment Manufacturer Parts (OEM)

OEM parts are made for specific makes and models and approved by the vehicle manufacturer to fit the vehicle. This manufacturer of these parts ensures that they meet the specifications of a particular model and version, so that they fit perfectly.

An example: OEM manufacturer Hengst produces a Mercedes filter that is packaged and labeled as Hengst filter.

Aftermarket Parts (IAM)

IAM stands for “Independent AfterMarket”, but usually refers to Aftermarket parts. These parts are manufactured by a company other than the supplier of OE or OEM products. This company specializes in replacement parts for different types of vehicles.
